Sander Sitter

The Sander Sitter is a unique accessory that works with  5”& 6” Random Orbital Disc Palm Sanders (ROS). The Sander Sitter allows the operator of a ROS to safely set the Sander down in the carousel while running to free up hands in order to manoeuvre work surfaces. As it is spinning in the carousel the natural crepe rubber cleaning pad is eliminating 70 to 80% of the debris from the sanding paper disc. It is also utilized in the process of shutting off the Sander, by placing it in the carousel and letting it wind down and stop safely in one place.

Instructions

**STEPS 1 & 2 ARE VERY IMPORTANT**

*1: The first time you use a new Sander Sitter, spread some sanding dust on the crepe rubber cleaning pad to eliminate the sticky texture of the new cleaning pad. The sander has to slide on the pad in order to operate smoothly.

*2: Be sure the sanding disc is centred on the Sander, and the excess overlap of the sand paper is rolled upwards. The first few times you must do this manually with the palm of your hand, eventually the Sander Sitter will do this automatically. This ensures enough room for movement in the carousel in order for the ROS. to rotate and not shake.

**Note** All brands of sandpaper come in different sizes they could be + OR – 5” it is impossible for us to compensate for this, the Sander Sitter has been accurately designed to accommodate the variable and performs at it’s maximum if the previous instructions are followed correctly

3: Do not start the sander while it is sitting in the carousel. After sanding, place the ROS directly and firmly into the carousel without hesitation. DO NOT HOVER over the carousel as it sometimes will cause the cleaning pad to be sucked up and thrown out.

4: Place the Sander Sitter on a clean, solid and level work surface.

 Spin Control Adjustment

Some ROS’s rotate faster than others especially older models with worn braking mechanisms. These may appear to be unstable, or jump out of the carousel while winding down. If this occurs, turn the Spin Control Adjustment located in the centre of the carousel clockwise using 1/8” allen key, until slight resistance is felt. Re adjust as necessary until the ROS and the carousel rotate under control and stop simultaneously.

Caution

1: Do not leave a running sander unattended in the carousel.

2: Make sure the sander is properly seated in the carousel before releasing it

3: Do not leave the sander running in the carousel for extended periods of time.

4: Do not apply heat to the Cleaning Pad as it causes it to shrink.

Benefits

1: Faster working time by not having to turn the sander off and on every time you sit it down.

2: At least 4 to 5 times longer sanding disc life by cleaning action it provides

3: Eliminates the damage the excess paper can cause to itself and or your work, by automatically rolling it upwards out of the way enabling you to glide over edges and any cut out areas of your work.

4: Gives a safe resting place for your sander, and prevents it from being damaged by falling onto the floor during “wind down” time

Tips

1: The Crepe Rubber Cleaning Pad does not wear thin or crumble away and will probably last forever. For maximum cleaning action, wash crepe rubber cleaning pad regularly with cold water and soap, rinse well and allow to air dry. DO NOT APPLY ANY FORM OF HEAT.

2: For more stability, place the Sander Sitter on a Sanding Mat.

3: The sanders cord is the tether, so it has to come from over the edge of the table or bench where the sander is being used. The Sander Sitter will not work properly if the cord is hanging from above or lying on the table from the rear or sides.

4: If the sanding disc is heavily loaded with debris, exert slight downward pressure on the sander while it is running in the carousel. This will add to the cleaning action for better results.

5: To mount it to a work station or a bench, remove the cleaning pad to expose the access port to holes in the base. This enables the Sander Sitter to be fastened down with 2 screws.

6: All ROS’s perform differently depending on make, model and age. The Sander Sitter’s performance will vary and will enhance itself with use depending on the individual Sander.

**Note** for “Bosch” and other palm sanders where the dust collection is extreme. You may experience the Sander sticking to, and rotating the cleaning pad, causing poor performance. To remedy this, cut a slit across the centre of the Crepe Rubber Cleaning Pad (approx. 3”in length) with a knife in order to relieve the suction caused by the Sander which prevents the carousel from spinning freely. This will not compromise the performance or cleaning ability.

 Maintenance

The Sander Sitter is relatively maintenance free.

1: If the bearing slows down it can be cleaned with compressed air, by blowing any excess dust out from around it.

2: Maintain Cleaning Pad by washing it with cold water and soap, and letting it air dry.

Warranty

1 Year Manufacturer’s warranty against manufacturing defects.
